What is Flexible Respite?
UnitingCare Supported Living Flexible respite service provides a safe environment within a modified house located in the Inner West Area.
Flexible respite provides a variety of respite options ranging from occasional to regular breaks for carers of people with a disability.
Service features
- A facility and vehicle that has been modified to support varying needs of people with a disability.
- Staff encouraging choices that respect and enhance the quality of life of people with a disability.
- Individual service Plans are developed to reflect a persons culture and individuality.
- A service based on relationships built with the person and their family.
- Clients guide options through choice.
Who is eligible?
- Ageing Carers in the Inner West Area.
- People with a disability living within the Inner West Area.
Options available
1. Weekdays:
Activity based options including Community Access; Skills. Development; Social groups and one to one activities.
2. Evenings:
3pm-9pm is an activity based and/or 1:1 option either at the respite house or within the home. School age children to allow their families to spend time with other family members use this option.
3. Weekends:
Weekends are available based on compatible groups (age and interests).
Activity Options
In House
- Skills building in areas such as cooking, gardening and household maintains.
- Leisure activities such as, arts and crafts, board games, music, DVD and videos, dancing, just to name a few.
Community Base
- Activities are chosen during client meetings and through Respite Plan Goals.
- Activities include bowling competitions, beach cricket and ferry trips.
