Active Linking Initiative

Active Linking Initiative (ALI)

The Active Linking Initiative is a service for people with disabilities who are residents of Licensed Residential Centres (licensed boarding houses) licensed under the Youth and Community Services Act 1973.

The Supported Living ALI service provides support to people living in the Swatson boarding house at Summer Hill and Cavendish Lodge at Croydon.

This support consists of identifying each person’s needs and linking the person to community options through direct support or brokerage. ALI provides support to each person to develop networks in and around their local community.

The services provided by ALI include, but are not limited to:

Service Planning

  • Provision of direct services in community based settings which promote increased community awareness, independence and inclusion;
  • Engaging mainstream services and community activities with the aim to build on alternate options of support for each person;
  • Establishing and maintaining links with other service providers;
  • Cooperation with Licensed  Centre Operators to ensure maximum opportunity for individuals to use skills gained through the ALI program;
  • Ensuring people who are unable to make use of ALI services are referred to other organisations that provide access to assessment and service coordination resources and link them to appropriate services.

The Nature of Support

The practical support provided to each person is identified on their Individual Support Plan and may include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Skills Development
    • Daily living
    • Social skills
    • Adult education
  • Community Access and Inclusion
  • Leisure and Recreation.

Service Access

ALI does not take referrals as the service is only available to those people living in targeted boarding houses.
