Overview
UnitingCare Disability was established in 2008 to bring together the disability services operating under the UnitingCare NSW.ACT banner into a network of affiliated services. There is a proud history within the Uniting Church of providing support to people with disabilities and their families. Many of the services that are currently in operation across NSW and ACT were started by groups of volunteers within the church as a direct response to a community need.
UnitingCare Disability provides direct services within its Supported Living program and links together activities for people with disabilities and their carers across NSW and ACT within our network of Affiliated Services.
We recognise that a good life in the local community requires opportunities for valued relationships, security for the future, contribution, choices and challenges.
The outcomes we strive to achieve are:
-
To enhance the person's ability to reside successfully in the community and follow the lifestyle of their choice
-
To support the person's presence and inclusion in the community
-
To enhance the person's sense of control over their life
-
To strengthen the person's connection with family, friends, neighbours, household and others in the community
-
To strengthen the person's connection with their culture, if they choose
-
To promote the maintenance, learning and development of skills
-
To promote the health and well being of the person
-
